Agreement to Develop Trade of Fruit and Vegetables Through the Port of Civitavecchia

1.6.2018

Develop the traffic of fruit and produce through the port of Civitavecchia is the objective of the administration of the port of Civitavecchia. An agreement has been recently signed by the president of the Port System of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Center, Francesco Maria di Majo, and the President and Director general of the Agri-Food Center of Rome (CAR), Valter Giammaria and Fabio Massimo Pallottini. The aim is to increase the volumes of goods in transit and import / export of fruit and vegetables from Lazio from the port of Civitavecchia.

The agreement specifically provides as assets the agreed draft of an annual calendar of joint ventures even in sectors trade fair, exhibition, congress and cultural. Five guidelines covered by the agreement: internationalization of Lazio companies in the Mediterranean markets; development of logistics for fruits and vegetables (attention to the food chain, port facilities, new transport technologies at a controlled temperature, etc.); Attraction and management of international investments; Planning proposals for intermodal, assisted-mobility, transport with a low environmental impact of fresh produce from Lazio to enhance the local production;

"This agreement - said Pallottini - launching a start of a collaboration between our market and the Port Authority to improve services for enterprises operating in the import and export within the CAR in particular through the port of Civitavecchia. In this way large volumes of goods from all over the world who come to the CAR platforms will transit through the port of Lazio, which can then further increase its role in the goods sector, particularly in fresh produce. Civitavecchia already plays an important role for the banana traffic but I have ample room for growth with other vegetables.
