Peru: Expansion of the Port Terminal in Paita Completes in November

The works for expanding the marginal pier of the Paita port terminal in Piura will be completed this November. The project to improve the terminal includes an investment of 311.6 million dollars and is part of the portfolio of interventions of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).  Exports, the efficiency of the maritime installation and maritime transport between the ports of Paita and the Panama Canal will be promoted with this regional project. 

Completing this project will boost the export of agricultural products such as grapes, bananas, squid, blueberries, and other products from Piura, which can be transported in vessels of up to 12,000 TEUs of capacity that transit through the Panama Canal. 

The MTC reported that 8.7 million dollars were invested in this expansion of the pier so that ships of up to 330 meters in length (length) of the post Panamax type can be served. The National Port Authority (APN) promotes the modernization of the Paita Port. 

Similarly, the MTC stressed that a project to improve the port of Paita includes an investment of 311.6 million dollars in which infrastructure and equipment of the maritime facility are included.
