Peru: Banana Exports Slightly Down

The Netherlands, the United States and Panama were the leading destinations for the fruit. 

During the first two months of this year, Peru exported 36,414 metric tons of bananas for a FOB value of US$ 25,684,995. These figures reveal a slight decrease from the 38,121 tons exported in the same period of 2020 for US$ 26,466,627. 

According to a report from the Agrodata Peru portal, the leading destination of these exports between January and February 2021 was the Netherlands, where US$ 8,230,000 worth of fruit was sent. Next came the United States with US$ 5,501,000, Panama with US $ 4,021,000, Belgium with US$ 2,481,000, South Korea with US$ 1,559,000 and Germany with US$ 957,000. 

Among the prominent exporting companies of this fruit were: Cooperativa Agraria APPBOSA with sales of US$ 2,404,190, Andean Natural Products Export Import SAC with US$ 1,621,357, Pronatur EIRL with US$ 1,620,692, Association of Small Organic Producers of Querecotillo with US$ 1,246,247, Cooperativa Agraria APBOSMAN with US$ 1,180,896, Capebosan - Jibito with US$ 1,135,414, and Banánica SAC with US$ 1,013,792, with other companies also sending lower amounts.
