Peru: VII International Organic Banana Congress in Piura

30.8.2019

Next Thursday, November 21 and 22, the VII CIBAN (International Organic Banana Congress) will be held at the UNP.

The event is held with the objective of providing solutions and strategies to the challenges of the banana production chain that brings together more than 9,500 small producers.

The VII CIBAN (International Organic Banana Congress), organized by the Banana Regional Technical Board, will be held from 8 a.m. in the Manuel Moncloa and Ferreira auditorium of the National University of Piura; with the participation of international and national exhibitors from Brazil, Holland, France, Israel, Colombia and Ecuador.

Researchers will have the opportunity to present their work and research on technical productive issues, with a focus on climate change, in order to develop the sustainability of the chain since it represents more than 9 thousand hectares.

On Thursday 21, after the inaugural day, it will be discussed on “Fusarium R4T as a worldwide analysis”, “Fusarium R4T nationwide”, “Contingency plan in Fusarium R4T and “Banana in numbers”.

On the second day of CIBAN, topics such as “Recycling”, “Computer systems”, “Climate change”, “Carbon footprint”, “Soil health”, “Bioferments” and “Suppressive soils” will be addressed.

Around 9,500 producers export more than 230 containers per week, which has meant more than 250 billion dollars for the Piura region and more than 70,000 families linked to the chain through direct and indirect employment.
