Ecuador: 7,000 TEU Vessel Berthed at Puerto Bolívar

18.1.2019

Thanks to the dredging to 14.5 metres at low tide (in the second phase it will have 16.5 metres), Puerto Bolivar was able to receive the "MSC Veronique", the largest vessel so far anchored in Ecuador. The vessel anchored in the presence of the main representatives of the Turkish company YilportEcu, Port Authority and Captaincy of Puerto Bolívar.

"I want to thank you for being the first shipping company to open the doors to import cargo, which we will start receiving very soon, thanks to the inclusion of Puerto Bolívar in its global itineraries as a cargo destination in Ecuador," said Alfredo Jurado, manager of YilportEcu.

The ship that arrived from Panama is 294 meters in length, with a 32-metre beam, can transport 7,000 TEU and has 600 reefer container points.

At the ceremony the ship's captain, Gennadiy Serzhanov, received a welcome plaque from the YilportEcu manager, Alfredo Jurado.
