The global price of organic fruit and vegetables increased in Germany in 2025, and consumption remained firm.

Fruit prices rose by 4.6 per cent in 2025, and vegetable prices by just 1 per cent, according to data from the AMI Consumer Mirror, in a report to be published in the February issue.

The average price increase for organic fresh products in Germany in 2025 was 2.2 per cent, lower than in 2024.

Bio fruit was one of the food categories that saw the largest price increases, due to a lower presence of organic bananas in 2025, driven by maritime restrictions related to weather conditions.

The price was not higher because the supply of apples was abundant in the second half of the year, although stocks were low in the first half. Despite rising fruit and vegetable prices, the number of customers in specialised stores increased by 2.2 per cent during the period from November 2023 to October 2024.

In 2025, Germans paid more for organic fruits and vegetables. The cost of organic fruit rose by 4.6 per cent, yet this increase did not stop consumption. Germany serves as a strong example of the growing popularity of organic produce amid stable market conditions.

Organic fruits saw significant price hikes, primarily due to a reduced availability of organic bananas in 2025, attributed to various restrictions stemming from adverse weather conditions. However, prices were stabilised by an abundant supply of apples in the second half of the year, despite low stocks in the first half.
