Maersk Launches New Caribbean Service

2025-07-25

On July 21, 2025, Maersk announced the launch of a new service connecting the Caribbean with Northern Europe, called the CAX service, aimed at enhancing its maritime network in Latin America. This new service will replace the existing CRX and COEX routes, offering improved reliability, efficient transit times, and enhanced connectivity in key markets. The CAX service will have a port rotation that includes Antwerp, Southampton, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Newark, Manzanillo (Panama), Puerto Antioquia, and Puerto Moín (Panama). The port terminal in Antioquia, Colombia, will initially be served by a feeder service connecting to Manzanillo (Panama) until the new facility becomes fully operational, which is scheduled for November 1.

CAX service will begin operations on September 26, with the departure of the Monte Linzor from Puerto Moín heading north. Starting September 29, it will operate southbound with the departure of the Maersk Monte Alto from the Antwerp maritime terminal. Additional changes will take place in September, including the addition of Santa Marta-Magdalena (Colombia) as the final port in Latin America for Maersk's CLX service and Southampton as the first port in Europe. Moreover, the rotation between Rotterdam and Antwerp will be modified.

Veracruz and Altamira in Mexico will be exclusively served by a dedicated loop (TA4) within the Transatlantic network, maintaining weekly coverage to and from Northern Europe.
