The Russian government has officially added bananas to its list of national agricultural products. The relevant decree was posted on the official web portal for legal information.

The document states: "The list of agricultural products, for which production, primary processing, and subsequent industrial processing are carried out by agricultural producers, as well as by research institutions, professional educational institutions, and higher educational institutions during their scientific, technical, and/or educational activities, includes the following: '01.22.12.000 Bananas.'"

In a statement last November, Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut mentioned that the Ministry is considering the possibility of planting bananas, taking Kazakhstan as a model for this initiative.
